Week-long rail disruption due to train shortage

Rail services between Shrewsbury and Birmingham will be disrupted for a week due to a shortage of trains.

Transport for Wales announced that services between Shrewsbury and Birmingham International would terminate at Wolverhampton from Saturday until at least Friday.

A spokesperson for the company said the disruption was due to a "fleet shortage" because of a number of trains undergoing heavy maintenance exams and autumn related repairs.

They apologised to passengers and said the company was "working hard to minimise disruption to customers".

Due to the disruption customers travelling to both Birmingham New Street and Birmingham International can use other services for no extra cost from Monday to Friday.

The same service was cancelled on Tuesday, again due to a shortage of trains.
