A man has been arrested after three men were found with knife wounds and another man was assaulted in a fight at a train station, police have said.

Officers from British Transport Police and Surrey Police attended Egham station with paramedics at about 21:00 GMT on Friday after reports of "a number of people with stab injuries".

Two 20-year-old men were found with stab injuries and a third man, aged 22, had a slash injury to his face. An 18-year-old had been assaulted, police said.

A man, aged in his 30s, has been arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and remains in police custody.

The three men and the teenager were taken to hospital and none are in a life-threatening or life-changing condition, said police.

Officers said they believe at least two other people "made off" from the scene.

Det Spt David Udomhiaye said: "We're aware of concerns from the local community and, while this is of course an incredibly serious incident, I can confirm that thankfully no-one has been fatally injured.

"This is being treated as an isolated incident at the station involving two groups of people who we believe were not known to each other."

A cordon remained in place at the station on Saturday and an appeal was issued for any witnesses or anyone with footage that might help the investigation to contact police.
