Children's 10p swim scheme returns for Easter break

A scheme that gives children access to swimming sessions for 10p is set to run again in the Easter holidays.

All schoolchildren up to the age of 16 in the Cumberland Council area will be able to make use of the offer across five indoor pools between Monday 30 March and Friday 10 April.

The discounted scheme is run by the council with support from Everyone Active, GLL and Wigton Baths Trust.

The authority's executive member for vibrant and healthy places, councillor Anne Quilter, said: "We want to encourage the young people of Cumberland to get active."

The discounted scheme will be available at the following leisure sites:

The Sands Centre, Carlisle

  • Weekdays (except bank holidays), 10:00 BST to 10:50

Cockermouth Leisure Centre

  • Weekdays, 13:00 to 13:50

Workington Leisure Centre

  • Monday 30 March, 10:00 to 10:50
  • Tuesday 31 March, 13:00 - 13.50
  • Wednesday 1 April to Friday 3 April, 10:00 to 10:50
  • Monday 6 April to Friday 10 April, 10:00 to 10:50

Copeland Pool and Fitness Centre, Whitehaven

  • Weekdays (except Wednesday 1 April and Wednesday 8 April), 13:00 to 13:50

Wigton Baths

  • Monday 30 March, 15:00 to 16:00
  • Tuesday 31 March, 11:30 to 12:00 and 15:45 to 16:45
  • Wednesday 1 April, 15:15 to 16:15
  • Thursday 2 April ,15:00 to 16:00
  • Tuesday 7 April, 11.30 - 12.30 and 15:45 to 16:45
  • Wednesday 8 April, 15:15 to 16:15
  • Thursday 9 April, 15:00 to 16:00
  • Friday 10 April, 11:00 to 12:00.

"It is a great opportunity for children to use our facilities at a discounted rate and will also support families during a cost of living crisis," said Quilter.
