Driver admits causing death of mother pushing pram
Family handoutA lorry driver has admitted causing the death of a woman who was struck on the head by crane equipment while pushing a pram.
Rebecca Ableman, 30, was with her two-year-old daughter Autumn on the pavement by the B1050 in Willingham, Cambridgeshire, when she was hit in September 2022.
Kevin Miller, 71, of Gayton Road, King's Lynn, Norfolk, admitted causing death by careless or inconsiderate driving at a hearing in Peterborough Crown Court, officials said.
Court staff said he was due to be sentenced on 14 April.
Family handoutMiller had gone on trial last year after denying causing death by dangerous driving - when detail of the incident emerged.
The trial was halted in April and a new trial was due to start this week.
Ms Ableman, who lived in Willingham, had left a farm shop in Station Road with her daughter when she was struck by the equipment at about 11:15 BST.
She died from head and brain injuries three weeks later.
Family handoutProsecutors said Miller was transporting scrap metal from King's Lynn docks to two Network Rail depots in Essex and Cambridgeshire on 22 September.
As he passed through Willingham, loose unsecured crane equipment moved from its position and was hanging over the edge of a trailer, the court heard.
Miller said he did not know there had been an incident until he was arrested.
