Fire at pub being treated as arson, says force

Police are urging people to come forward if they have any information about the fire at a pub in Buckinghamshire

A fire at a 17th-Century pub is being treated as arson, police said.

The blaze was discovered in the walkway area at The Swan, Stewkley, Buckinghamshire on Saturday between 05:45 and 06:30 GMT, Thames Valley Police said.

The man who discovered the fire was in his 30s and did not sustain any injuries, the force added.

Det Con Arina Matvejenko said: "We are also appealing to the individual [who] was found sleeping in the walkway area in the early hours of the morning on Saturday, who may be able to assist us with our investigation."

Det Con Matvejenko asked that any motorists who were driving in the area between 01:00 and 07:00 on Saturday to check their dashcam footage.

"If you live locally and have video doorbell or CCTV footage, please come forward," Det Con Matvejenko added.
