Family hosts Halloween light show for charity

A family have turned their home into a Halloween light display to raise money for a children's charity.

Rachel and Kevin Barker's house in Laceby, North East Lincolnshire, has over 20,000 lights which are programmed to flash in time to music.

Ms Barker said: "It was the first day last Friday and it was completely mental, the amount of people that came along. It was constantly busy. There must have been a few hundred people."

The light display is in aid of Grimsby-based charity The Sunflowers Children's Action Group, which supports children with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions.

The couple have hosted Christmas light displays at their house for the last two years.

Ms Barker said: "It takes months to organise. Because it's the first time we have done Halloween, we had to buy all new props.

"Each individual LED light needs to be pushed into each hole. Then they need to be fitted onto the house."

She said family members chose music from a variety of genres, then the lights were programmed in time to the music.

The light display will be on Friday 31 October from 16:00 to 21:00 GMT, and Saturday 1 November from 18:00 to 21:00.

The couple said they were expecting a large crowd and asked visitors to be respectful towards their neighbours.
