Man and woman found dead at remote Highland property

The bodies of a man and a woman have been found at a property in the Highlands' Flow Country.

Emergency services were called to Trantlemore, a crofting township in Strath Halladale, south of Melvich, at about 12:30 on Thursday following a report of concerns for two people.

Police Scotland said their deaths were being treated as unexplained, but were not believed to be suspicious.

A spokesperson said inquiries were at an early stage and officers remained at the scene.

The Flow Country is a vast area of peatlands, with crofts and larger farms.

The police spokesperson said the bodies were found inside the property, near Trantlebeg.

The spokesperson added: "The deaths are being treated as unexplained, however they are not believed to be suspicious.

"Inquiries are at an early stage and are ongoing to establish the full circumstances.

"Officers remain in the area and anyone with any information or concerns can approach them.

"A report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal in due course."

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said it did not attend the incident.
