From duck reunions to ukulele lessons and a Mickey Mouse money box, there have been plenty of feel-good stories across the region this week

Every week, there are plenty of cheerful and light-hearted stories to be found across Yorkshire and this week has been no exception.

From Greg James' reunion with Long Boi fans at the University of York, to the new lease of life in Keighley for the felled Sycamore Gap tree, there has been lots to bring a smile to our faces over recent days.

The long-serving paper boy still going strong

Colin Bradley says he will continue delivering papers until he can no longer walk

"There's nothing I don't like about the job," says Colin, a retired farm worker and lorry driver.

"I'm gonna stop when I can't walk, or 'somert' like that."

Greg James greeted by Long Boi fans on York return

Greg James returned to the University of York on his bike ride for Comic Relief

Radio 1's Greg James returned to the home of the late and beloved University of York duck Long Boi on Tuesday as he passed through the campus on his 630-mile tandem bike ride for Comic Relief.

Having enjoyed some royal company en route to York, James admitted he had had a "weird" day.

"Only a few hours ago I was on a tandem with Prince William," he said. "Now, I'm here with Long Boi and all the amazing students in York."

Mickey money box fetches a fortune

Meanwhile in Scarborough, a Mickey Mouse money box that was given to a young boy almost a century ago was auctioned off on Thursday.

Auctioneers David Duggleby said the item remained in "amazing condition" as the previous owner, who kept it his whole life after being gifted it in 1932, had taken such good care of it.

The money box sold for £4,200.

Hospice making music and memories

The ukulele and singing course at St Luke's Hospice lasts for 18 weeks

A ukulele and singing group at a hospice has been described as a "lifeline" by patients.

The 18-week music therapy programme takes place at St Luke's Hospice in Sheffield and gives terminally-ill people and their families a chance to "make new memories" and learn new skills.

One participant, Brian, said: "It's just like being on holiday and the best thing since sliced bread."

New life for Sycamore Gap sapling

Part of the felled Sycamore Gap tree has been given a new lease of life

A sapling grown from the famous Sycamore Gap tree has been given a new home in Bradford.

It has been planted in the grounds of East Riddlesden Hall near Keighley which is run by the National Trust.

The illegal felling of the tree next to Hadrian's Wall in 2023 hit headlines around the world and led to the jailing of two men.

Bonnie, a student at Bradford's Articulate Drama School and Agency, appears in Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, alongside young stars from Stagecoach Garforth.

Bonnie makes her feature film debut as Ruby Shelby, daughter of Tommy, played by Hollywood heavyweight Cillian Murphy.
