Northamptonshire Police said it was called to the scene in Raunds at about 02:30 BST on Tuesday

A supermarket has been badly damaged after a telehandler was used to steal a cash machine.

Northamptonshire Police said it was called to the Spar shop in High Street, Raunds, at about 02:30 BST on Tuesday.

Officers said that a group of up to five men were involved in using the vehicle to rip the ATM from the side of the building.

In a statement, Spar said it had now reopened despite "significant damage" to the building.

Anyone with information is asked to call the police on 101

Spar added that it was working with police to "assist with their criminal investigation".

Officers have appealed for anyone with information to contact them on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
