An A-road was closed in both directions for several hours after a serious collision, police said.

In a social media post at 03:00 GMT, the Hertfordshire force said officers had been called to the A505 at the Cat Ditch Road junction between Royston and Baldock.

Thameslink warned of disruption to rail replacement buses due to the incident but said they were running as normal by 12:15.

Traffic on the road, which connects the A1(M) and the A10, appeared to be flowing freely by early afternoon.
