Stamps released to celebrate Guernsey architecture

Guernsey Post has issued stamps depicting illustrations of the 200-year-old building St James.

The four stamp designs form part of a joint issue with the Small European Postal Administration Cooperation (SEPAC) for its 2025 theme, architecture.

Built in 1818, the church was a valued feature of St Peter Port due to its elegant design created by architect John Wilson.

In 1970, the building was deemed redundant and fell into disrepair. But, in 1985, after four years of restoration, it was reopened as a concert and assembly hall.

Bridget Yabsley, head of philatelic at Guernsey Post, said: "This year's SEPAC theme creates an opportunity for us to showcase the wonderful building of St James."
