Man charged with rape of 19-year-old woman

A man will appear in court charged with raping a 19-year-old woman and administering a substance with intent to stupefy.

The woman was reportedly raped at an address in the Polygon area of Southampton on 5 February.

Viaan Surendranathan, 21, of Sidar Road in the city, has been charged with rape, possession of a Class A drug and administering a substance with intent to stupefy/overpower.

He was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Southampton Magistrates' Court later.
