Railway station improvements given start date
GoogleAccess to a railway station in Staffordshire is set to be improved as part of the transformation of a town centre.
Planned improvements to Stafford station include more disabled parking near the building, road resurfacing works and a larger short-stay car park.
The works, due to start in January, form part of a wider project to regenerate parts of the town centre.
The whole project was given funding by the government after the borough council applied for it.
Councillor Rob Kenney said the works were "another piece in our jigsaw of transforming the town".
Work to renovate Market Square in the town began in January as part of a £1m restoration scheme.
Under the town centre works, the Guildhall Shopping Centre and the old former Co-op department store on nearby Gaolgate Street will be demolished.
