Murder arrest after woman found dead at house

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following the death of a woman who was found at a property in Rotherham.

The 37-year-old's body was discovered at a property in Clough Street by ambulance staff at about 17:45 GMT on Sunday, South Yorkshire Police said.

A 43-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody.

Senior Investigating Officer Det Ch Insp Andy Knowles said: "We are in the early stages of our investigation and are focused on establishing the circumstances surrounding this tragic incident."

Police said the woman's family had been informed and were being supported by officers.

The victim had previously been in contact with police so a referral was made to the force's Professional Standards Department and the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
