Murder suspect, 80, remains in serious condition

An 80 year-old man arrested on suspicion of the murder of a woman in Shropshire remains in hospital in a serious condition, police have said.

West Mercia Police were called to a property on Woodlands Grove in Prees Higher Heath, Whitchurch just after 15:00 GMT on Tuesday, where an 84-year-old woman was found dead.

Her next of kin have been informed but no formal identification has taken place, the force added.

The man was found with "serious and potentially life-threatening injuries" and is still receiving treatment. Police added that enquiries were ongoing and police would remain in the area and the scene.
