Firm steps in to clear fly-tipping at boxing club
JLC PavingA Guernsey boxing club that had more than two tonnes of rubbish fly-tipped on its property has had it removed free of charge by a local company.
JLC Paving offered to remove the rest for free and has since taken away all of the waste.
The firm's owner Josh Le Cras, said: "When I saw that people had stooped so low as to dump rubbish there, I felt compelled to take action."
JLC PavingHe said: "I decided to clear the rubbish at the local boxing club as a a goodwill gesture after being shocked by the fly-tipping there.
"No-one makes any money from this club - it's all about supporting the community."
As the boxing club is on private property the responsibility and cost of the removal fell onto them.
There is one fly-tipping incident every week reported in the island, according to Guernsey Waste.
