Plans for a 95-home estate south of the village of Croft have been given the go-ahead after the terms of a financial agreement were finalised.

The scheme at Croft Lodge Farm, off Broughton Road, was signed off by Blaby District Council planners on Friday.

Applicant Bellway Homes said that, on top of a mix of properties, open green space and a children's play park would be built on the site.

Plans were approved by councillors in June subject to a financial agreement setting out how the applicant will back local services, which has now been signed.

Documents submitted to the council show the estate will be made up of a mix of properties, including semi-detached and detached homes, of which 25% will be affordable.

In the application, Bellway Homes said: "The housing range will provide for first time buyers, local residents looking to downsize, alongside good sized family homes.

"This will support a diverse community and enable residents to stay in the area long term through the provision of a range of homes for all stages of life."

A total of 18 public comments were made on the plans, including 17 objections and one in support.

Officers have now approved the plans in principle, with further details to be agreed at a future date before work can begin.

The financial deal - known as the section 106 agreement - means the developer will be asked to make payments of more than £260,000 to support local services, including education, health and transport.
