Southampton are due to head to Wembley to take on Hull in the Championship play-off final.

They will battle it out for a chance to join Coventry City and Ipswich Town in the Premier League next season.

Southampton secured their place in the Championship play-off final after a nail-biting 2-1 win in extra time over Middlesbrough.

But controversy surrounded the match after Southampton were charged with breaking the rules by the English Football League (EFL), following the Spygate scandal.

BBC Sport learned a Southampton performance analyst is alleged to have recorded Middlesbrough training and taken pictures of tactics during a final training session ahead of the play-off semi-final first leg.

Saints head coach Tonda Eckert said the club understood "the seriousness of the matter".

It is still unclear what impact Spygate will have on the final but what happens next lies in the hands an independent disciplinary commission.

The play-off final would be Saints second visit to Wembley this season after taking on Manchester City in the FA Cup semi-final in April.

Saints are due to take on Hull City in the play off final on Saturday, 23 May at Wembley Stadium.

Kick off time has been confirmed as 16:30 BST.

Tickets for the play-off final were due to go on sale on Thursday 14 May.

A recorded message on the south club's ticket hotline said it was "waiting for confirmation for ticketing details", once confirmed details of how to buy tickets will be published on the Southampton FC website.

Hospitality packages are available via Wembley Stadium website.

Saints have released a range of merchandise to commemorate their place in the play-off final, which is available for fans to pre-order online.

No information around specific transport to Wembley from Southampton has been released yet.

Previously the club has worked alongside train companies to ensure fans can get to the game easily and are kept up to date with the latest travel information.

Passengers can travel by train from Southampton Central to London Waterloo and then via London Underground to Wembley Central, or by overground train to Marylebone, changing for a train for Wembley Stadium.

Alternatively fans can travel from Southampton to Clapham Junction, changing to a train for Wembley Central.

National Express runs coaches from Southampton to Wembley. And fan coaches are also expected to run.

Southampton ended the season unbeaten in their final 19 league games.

They finished fourth, 15 points behind league winners Coventry, who secured promotion to top flight football for the first time since 2001.

Saints came then from behind to win against Middlesbrough in the second leg of the semi-final play-off at St Mary's.

After a goalless first leg, it was Middlesbrough who took an early lead with Riley McGree scoring after just five minutes. Ross Stewart equalised for Saints just before the end of the first half.

Shea Charles secured Saint's place in the final after scoring with just four minutes of extra-time remaining.

Hull beat Millwall 2-0 in the second leg of their play-off semi-final at The Den, after a goalless first leg. Mo Belloumi and Joe Gelhardt came off the bench to score the goals.

Hull have the opportunity to return to top flight football for the first time since 2017.
