Residents were advised to remain indoors and keep doors and windows closed following a fire at a hotel in an Aberdeenshire village.

At its height, about 40 firefighters tackled the blaze which broke out at the Commerical Hotel in Auchry Road, Cuminestown, at about 08:10 on Saturday.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said eight appliances were at the scene in the village, near Turriff.

The fire has since been extinguished.
