A man had to be airlifted to hospital, where he is still being treated for "serious" injuries, after being stabbed.

Gloucestershire Police said officers were called to the St Mark's area of Cheltenham at about 13:05 GMT on 4 February where the victim - a man in his 20s - had been attacked.

A 23-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm with intent and has since been released on bail while investigations continue, the force added.

A vehicle windscreen was damaged at the scene as part of the incident.

The incident happened just before 13:00 GMT on Princess Elizabeth Way, between Cowper Road and Shelley Road.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish what happened and CCTV and house-to-house enquiries have taken place, as well as a forensic investigation of the scene," Gloucestershire Police added.

"Investigating officers are now asking for anyone who witnessed the incident, has dashcam footage or any information which they believe is relevant to contact police."
