A woman in her 80s has died after she was seriously injured in a two-car crash in Malvern.

Emergency services were called to Stocks Lane, in Newlands, at 11:40 GMT on Thursday, but the woman later died in hospital.

A man in his 50s, who was a passenger in the other car, suffered serious life-changing injuries, police said, while the driver of the car sustained minor injuries.

Officers have arrested a 37-year-old man on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, who has been released on bail while investigations continue.

West Mercia Police has asked anyone with information on the crash to come forward.

Officers said a Volkswagen ID4 was travelling southbound on Stocks Lane towards Newlands and a Mercedes A160 was travelling northbound towards Leigh Sinton before the crash.

Det Sgt Rose Hughes said: "Our thoughts are with the family of the woman who has died and the man who is seriously injured.

"We would urge anyone with information or dashcam footage to support our investigation to please get in touch."
