A man has been rescued after falling 30ft (9m) down a well in Cheadle, Staffordshire.

Staffordshire Police said officers were called to the scene, on High Street, alongside other emergency services at 08:37 GMT.

The man was recovered at about 10:35 and suffered only minor injuries, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

The county's fire and rescue service earlier warned people to avoid the area.
