A man has died in hospital, four days after he was assaulted on a city street.

South Wales Police officers were called to the assault, that happened on Pentyrch Street, in Cathays, Cardiff, at around 18:15 GMT on 22 December.

The force confirmed Colm Marcus Boston, 37, from the Heath area of the city, died at the University Hospital of Wales on Boxing Day.

A 51-year-old man from the Mynachdy area, a 47-year-old man from Adamsdown, and a 60-year-old man from Cathays were arrested but have now been released on bail.

Det Sgt Lauren Wells thanked the community for helping with the investigation, adding: "Our heartfelt condolences are with Colm's family and friends as they come to terms with their tragic loss."

As officers continue to investigate, they appealed for CCTV and dash-cam footage from the Maindy Road, Pentyrch Street, Whitchurch Road, and Cathays Terrace areas from between 16:00 GMT and 18:30 on Monday, 22 December.
