Emergency crews have worked to extinguish multiple fires on a hillside, close to a town.

Firefighters from Ulverston Blue Light Hub and Windermere Fire were called to Hoad Hill, Ulverston, at about 14:10 GMT, Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service (CFRS) said.

The fires have been dampened down, with some emergency services leaving the scene at about 17:45, witnesses said.

The fire service has asked people to avoid the area surrounding the Sir John Barrow Monument.
