Part of the A14 in Cambridgeshire has been shut due to a serious crash.

Police said the collision, near Godmanchester, involved a car and a lorry carrying grain at about 06:50 GMT.

The eastbound carriageway has been closed between junction 21 at Brampton and junction 24B, near Swavesey.

Emergency services were sent and a diversion was put in place.

National Highways said investigations by police were ongoing and the recovery of vehicles would take place when they were finished.

"Recovery will take some time due to the HGV carrying grain which will need to be removed before recovery can start," the agency added.

Long delays were expected, and National Highways has estimated that traffic would not return to normal until 18:00-18:15 GMT.
