Green light for major county road project
Nottinghamshire County CouncilPlans for a major upgrade of a busy route through north Nottinghamshire have been approved by the county council.
More than £43m is to be spent revamping five key junctions on the A614 and A6097 to ease congestion.
Ollerton Roundabout, White Post Roundabout, Warren Hill, Lowdham Roundabout and Kirk Hill at East Bridgford are all due to reworked.
Drivers have been warned to expect significant disruption when the two-year rolling project gets under way in summer/autumn 2026.
The work is being funded through a £24.3m contribution from the Department for Transport, an additional £8.3m from Nottinghamshire County Council, £1.7m from developer contributions and the remaining balance provided by the East Midlands Combined County Authority.
East Midlands Mayor Claire Ward said: "People in north Nottinghamshire have been asking for these improvements for years, and I am pleased to be investing regional funding to remove the final barriers and to start delivery.
"So while this will take a couple of years to finish, the result will be a real and lasting difference for communities across Nottinghamshire.
"We're investing not just in our roads, but in the opportunities and quality of life for the people who rely on them every day."
