Pollok Stables and Sawmill renovation set to enter final phase
Glasgow City CouncilA plan to redevelop an A-listed stables and sawmill into a heritage centre will enter its final phase early next year.
Construction work at Pollok Country Park Stables and Sawmill aims to turn the dilapidated site into a into a net-zero carbon "Living" Heritage Centre and visitor attraction, based around the famous Clydesdale Horses.
A café, shop; education facilities; community meeting spaces and the reintroduction of Clydesdale horses to Pollok Country Park also feature in the plan.
Work carried out by contractor Morrisons Construction will begin in very early 2026 and is expected to be completed by late spring 2027.
Councillor Ruairi Kelly, convener for Built Heritage and Development at Glasgow City Council, said: "The restoration of the Pollok Stables and Sawmill will see these fantastic A listed buildings in a beautiful location brought back to life and add to the list of world-class attractions in the country park.
"Their redevelopment will see 18th and 21st Century technologies brought together in a project that will be of tremendous interest to a wide range of people."
The stables have been closed completely since 2018.
Page ParkThe project has £13.05m of funding from the UK government, with a £1.5m capital contribution from Glasgow City Council.
Earlier work on the project saw essential roof repairs and stabilisation works carrie out to secure the structure, prior to the beginning of the main work.
