Three girls charged over teenager's park stabbing

Three girls including a 12-year-old have been charged by police investigating the stabbing of a teenager in a Worcestershire park.

The victim, who was 14 at the time, suffered serious injuries when she was stabbed in Whittington during the evening of 21 September last year.

A 14-year-old girl and another girl aged 12 have been charged with wounding with intent and being in possession of a knife in a public place. A court date was yet to be confirmed, West Mercia Police said.

A 13-year-old girl has been charged with assault and is due to appear at Worcester Youth Court on Wednesday 8 April.

Police said at the time that the stabbing occurred in a park near Mayfield.

The injuries sustained by the stabbed girl were while serious not life threatening, police added.
