Princess Parkway was temporarily shut following the crash on Sunday afternoon

A man has been seriously injured after he was struck by a vehicle on the busy Princess Parkway route into Manchester city centre.

He was hit near Alexandra Park on the junction with Bowes Street at about 15:00 GMT, Greater Manchester Police said.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

The road has been temporarily closed across both carriageways in Moss Side.
