Warning after highly flammable chemicals stolen
Getty ImagesPolice have issued an appeal for information after four containers of highly flammable chemicals were stolen in North Lincolnshire.
Humberside Police said four men wearing balaclavas entered a business premises in Flixborough, near Scunthorpe, at about 05:45 GMT on Wednesday.
The barrels, two silver and two black, and each weighing approximately 242lb (110kg), were loaded into a white Volkswagen Golf which was then driven away, the force added.
Supt Tim Harrison said: "They are labelled as flammable and I would urge people to not approach the containers if they come across them, but to please call 999 immediately."
"It is possible the four containers may have now been discarded, and our priority is to locate and safely recover them," he added.
Four men matching the descriptions of the suspects were seen acting suspiciously at another business premises shortly before the containers were stolen, but left after being disturbed, police said.
"As part of our enquiries, we do also believe at this stage the four men may have travelled outside of our force area and towards South Yorkshire," Harrison said.
Anyone with information or CCTV footage is urged to contact police.
