'Emotional blackmailer' attacked ex and man
Northumbria PoliceA domestic abuser who attacked his ex-girlfriend and stole her car after his "emotional blackmail" failed to win her back has been jailed for four and a half years.
Kier Adam-Nuhoglo bombarded the woman with messages, including a video call when he was lying on a grave, and then led police on a high-speed pursuit in her stolen car, Newcastle Crown Court heard.
He also broke a man's jaw in two places in a separate unprovoked attack on a night out in Newcastle.
Adam-Nuhoglo, 25, admitted inflicting intentional grievous bodily harm, using coercive or controlling behaviour, intentional strangulation, burglary and dangerous driving.
'Completely unprovoked'
His first offence was the attack on a reveller outside Rusty's Bar in Newcastle at about 03:45 GMT on 13 March 2024, prosecutor Omar Ahmad said.
The victim was with friends when Adam-Nuhoglo, of Cragside Gardens in Lobley Hill, Gateshead, walked up shouting and pointing at him, the court heard.
The men were not known to each other and the victim had no idea why the attacker was so angry, but it seemed to calm down when the pair spoke to each other and shook hands, the court heard.
But then Adam-Nuhoglo took his jumper off and tied it around his face to conceal his identity before punching the man at least 20 times in the head and face, Ahmad said.
The man's jaw was broken in two places and a metal plate needed to be installed in his face, the court heard.
In a statement read to the court, the man said the attack was "completely unprovoked" and he had been left unable to do the sport he enjoyed, including American football and rugby.

In September 2025, Adam-Nuhoglo's partner of two and a half years broke up with him for good after he repeatedly cheated on her, Ahmad said.
The prosecutor said the woman had previously got back together with Adam-Nuhoglo after he told her he could not live without her and she feared he would harm himself.
But when she refused to take him back again, Adam-Nuhoglo bombarded her with messages tantamount to "emotional blackmail", including saying he "couldn't go on anymore" during a video call to her while he was lying on his father's grave, Ahmad said.
She agreed to meet him in Newcastle city centre on 11 October where he attacked her, throwing her to the ground and pinning her against a wall by her neck, the court heard.
Later that night, Adam-Nuhoglo smashed his way into her home through the living room window, strangled her in her bed then stole her car, Ahmad said.
He reached speeds of 94mph on the Felling bypass, drove through a red light at 80mph and was later found lying near the heavily damaged vehicle after crashing it, the court heard.
In mitigation, the court heard Adam-Nuhoglo, who did not have a driver's licence and whose previous offences included assault, affray and possessing cocaine, had mental health issues.
A restraining order banning Adam-Nuhoglo from contacting his ex-partner for five years was also made.
He was also banned from driving for three years and five months and will have to pass an extended test.
