A police search is under way for a North Yorkshire man who has been missing for five days.

The last confirmed sighting of Robert Rees-Hughes, 35, was of him walking along Crabmill Lane in Easingwold at about 15:10 GMT on Saturday.

Insp Michael Smith from North Yorkshire Police said they were growing "increasingly concerned for his welfare" due to freezing temperatures overnight.

Police drones and specialist search officers have been deployed to assist with the search, the force said.

Robert is described as white, 5ft 3in tall, of medium build, and has dark brown short receding hair.

He has an injury, described as a gash, to the top of his head and he was last seen wearing a dark waterproof jacket, grey chino jeans, and walking boots.

"I would urge anyone who has seen Robert to contact us with any information," Insp Smith added.
