Inquest opens after boy stabbed at railway station

An inquest has opened into the death of a teenage boy who was stabbed to death outside an East Sussex railway station.

Joshua Ingram, a 16-year-old student from Newhaven, died after being stabbed outside Seaford station on 10 September.

Pathologist Dr Robert Chapman's initial findings gave the cause of death as a haemorrhage caused by a stab wound to the heart, the inquest in Lewes heard.

A 16-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with murder and is due to appear at Lewes Crown Court next month.

Assistant coroner Laura Bradford adjourned the inquest pending legal proceedings.

Last month, British Transport Police said two other boys had been arrested in connection with the incident and released on bail pending further inquiries.

The boys, aged 14 and 16, were arrested at addresses in Seaford.

The 14-year-old was also arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to possess a firearm.
