A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man was stabbed at a house in the Wirral.

Merseyside Police and the ambulance service were called to Big Meadow Road in Woodchurch just before 15:00 GMT on Tuesday and found a man in his 50s was stabbed in the chest.

Police said the man was taken to hospital but his injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

A 37-year-old man was later arrested in the Rake Lane area on suspicion of attempted murder.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to contact police.
