A man in his 80s has died in hospital after being hit by a van.

Emergency services were called to the crash on Poplar Road, in Warmley, South Gloucestershire, at about 08:20 BST on Thursday. It involved a pedestrian and a white Ford Transit van

The man was taken to hospital but died later that day.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "Our thoughts are with his family who have been updated and are being supported by a specially-trained officer."

The van's driver was uninjured and has spoken with officers.

Police closed the road for about four hours while investigations took place.
