Fire crews have prevented a blaze spreading to a 15th Century thatched barn in Leicestershire.

At about 09:45 BST on Monday, firefighters were called to reports of an outbuilding on fire next to The Tithe Barn in Cosby, a Grade II-listed building dating back to 1450 now converted into a restaurant.

A three-hour operation saw parts of the buildings cut away to prevent the flames from spreading to the thatched roof, said Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service.

The cause of the fire was thought to be accidental, said the fire service, which was due to carry out further inspections on Monday evening.
