Man arrested after girl, 9, hit by a van in Dundee

A man has been arrested after a nine-year-old girl was hit by a van in Dundee.

Police were called to Stobsmuir Road in the Stobswell area of the city at about 13:30 on Wednesday.

The girl was taken to Ninewells Hospital for treatment and a 52-year-old man, who was driving the white van, was arrested over an alleged road traffic offence.

No other injuries were reported. Anyone with information is urged to contact police.

Sgt Michael Guild said: "I am appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash or was driving in the area at the time and saw the vehicle prior to please come forward and speak to officers.

"I'd also ask that those with dash-cam footage or CCTV review this to see if it has captured anything that could assist with our investigation."
