No proceedings were able to get under way at Derby Crown Court until after 11:30 GMT on Monday

Derby Crown Court has reopened following a flood inside the building.

The court was kept closed to the public on Monday morning until 11:30 GMT, with staff at the door saying the disruption was due to a burst pipe inside.

County court cases were moved to Southern Derbyshire Magistrates' Court, along with some crown court cases.

A spokesperson for HM Courts and Tribunals Service said a flood over the weekend had caused the issue with the court expected to be "fully open" on Tuesday.

They added damage had only affected administrative areas of the courthouse, and that any adjourned hearings would be rescheduled.
