Thousands of people are expected at Southport Air Show over the weekend for an event regarded as one of the UK's premier air displays.

Sefton Council said its programme would be "spectacular" for "families, friends, aviation buffs, and first-time visitors alike".

It promises high-tech jets, vintage warplanes and daredevil stunts that can be viewed either from the ticket-only cordoned-off beach area or any vantage point in the town.

The council said everyone was guaranteed a "shared celebration of flight, skill, and engineering marvels".
