Mum's disgust as daughter's killer to go free
BBCA mother whose daughter was murdered by a man with a meat cleaver has said she believes "the legal system is broken" after he was granted parole.
Stephen Wynne was jailed for life and ordered to serve a minimum of 21 years for the murder of Chantel Taylor in 2004. His sentence was later reduced on appeal to 18 years.
The former soldier from Birkenhead was only caught when he tried to set light to a mosque in the town in revenge for the 7 July 2005 London bombings.
Chantel's mother Jean Taylor, said it was "disgusting" that Wynne has been granted parole after her remains were never found.
Family photoShe told the BBC she was angry with the decision as "the parole board were fully aware that Stephen Wynne is withholding information".
"Stephen Wynne has not told the truth about where he put Chantel's remains, which have never been found. Where is she? Where are Chantel's remains?"
Wynne admitted murdering the 27-year-old and was jailed for life at Liverpool Crown Court in 2006.
Merseyside PoliceShe said the fact Wynne had been granted parole was "absolutely disgusting" but she was not shocked by the decision.
"I have lost faith in our system," she said.
"I had a feeling that he was going to be granted parole. So what was the point in me writing my victim impact statement?
"To explain how I feel and the effect it's had on my family and Chantel's children, to go through that harrowing ordeal of putting that down on paper, that doesn't mean anything."
"I feel my Chantel's life was worthless," she said.
Taylor, who founded the charity Families Fighting For Justice, said she believes murderers should never be let back out into society.
Taylor said she would appeal against the parole decision, and added that it proved "the victim's voice, the families of the victim's voices don't go above that of the perpetrator".
