Paul Hall set up the group to help provide support to fathers and carers in Redditch and Bromsgrove

A foster carer has set up a new men's walking group in a bid to help boost male mental health.

Paul Hall launched Sole Mates, a group which welcomes all men including fathers and carers from in and around Redditch and Bromsgrove to get together to meet each month for a walk and conversation.

"I started Sole Mates because I know how easy it is for men to feel isolated, especially when you're juggling caring responsibilities," Hall said.

The project has been supported by the Worcestershire County Council Public Health Community Grant programme.

He added: "It was really important to me to set something up that is welcoming to everyone – whether you're married, single, a dad, carer, or anything else. Sometimes you don't need a big sit-down conversation - you just need some fresh air and a friendly chat."

The group is free and takes place on the first Sunday of the month at Sanders Park in Bromsgrove from 10:00 GMT to 11:00, then at Arrow Valley Park in Redditch from 12:00 to 13:00.

Councillor Satinder Bell said: "Thank you to Paul for setting up Sole Mates and creating a positive space for men and dads to connect. Supporting men's wellbeing is vital, and this group helps reduce isolation and build healthier communities. We're proud to support this initiative and encourage others to get involved."
