Hundreds of worshippers descended on Stonehenge to celebrate the spring equinox this week.

And as temperatures peaked at 20C (68F), daffodils and springtime flowers have been blooming across the West of England.

Meanwhile, plane spotters have gathered in Gloucestershire as the United States Air Force continues to use RAF Fairford as a base for its defensive strikes.

Rising prices: Drivers in Bristol have been waiting in long queues at Tesco's forecourts in Eastville as it remains one of the cheapest petrol stations in the city.

The recent rise in fuel prices caused by the Iran conflict has resulted in disruption to supplies nationwide.

Giant leap: Sculptures of the mythical Giants of Avon Gorge were unveiled on Tuesday at Bristol Temple Meads.

Goram and Vincent's epic rivalry is said to have created the famous Avon Gorge, and Great Western Railway put on the installation as part of its new Legend Trail and book.

A new start: The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Edward, visited the Bristol Zoo Project as part of a programme of events designed to reintroduce the zoo's gorilla troop to visitors ahead of the Easter holidays.

Somerset

Slowly but surely: Flooding on the Somerset Moors is continuing to ease. Following extensive pumping efforts and a spell of drier weather, water levels are steadily receding.

This week, the Environment Agency confirmed there were no longer any flood warnings in place for the area.

Relocation, Relocation, Relocation: After settling down in the Bishop's Palace and Gardens moat, a team of experts were called in to relocate cygnets to a new home.

They now reside at Chew Valley Lake, where they were safely released and welcomed by the resident flock.

Sunrise at Fairford: There has been a lot of attention on the Cotswolds as the United States Air Force continues to use RAF Fairford to launch defensive strikes against Iranian missile sites.

The area has also been swarmed by plane spotters, who have been causing issues for locals. This image of a Rockwell B-1 Lancer heavy bomber was taken at sunrise on Thursday.

Spring days: It has been another week where we have seen the warmest day of the year so far.

It has been claimed a few times in 2026 but temperatures on Wednesday reached 20.9C (69.9F) in Gogerddan near Aberystwyth, Wales.

Closer to home, these daffodils were seen resting in the shade on the banks of the River Severn in Framilode.

Doggie delight: With the improving weather, pet owners have been out and about across the county enjoying the sun.

Included in that number is weather watcher Craig Rich, who wandered across the fields of Winterslow near Salisbury on Wednesday with a couple of canine friends.
