A teenager has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after a car fled police at speeds of up to 150mph (241km/h).

The 19-year-old suspect, from Telford, was held after a white Mercedes AMG was driven at high speeds on parts of the M6 which were coned off for roadworks.

The pursuit began when the car was seen at 02:00 GMT on 11 February near Sandbach Services in Cheshire after failing to stop earlier for Greater Manchester Police.

The vehicle was stopped on Alsager Road near the A500 by Cheshire Police officers.

The suspect had since been released on bail, a spokesperson for the force confirmed.
