Man left with serious injuries after collision

A man has been left with serious injuries and remains in hospital after a collision on an A-road.

Essex Police said it was called to reports of a single-vehicle collision on the A12 at about 20:30 BST on Saturday.

Police said the car was reported to have left the carriageway before catching fire.

The road was closed between Marks Tey and Stanway overnight while National Highways was at the scene, but has since reopened.

The force asked anyone with information or dashcam footage to come forward.
