A major road was blocked due to a collision.

The A12 southbound carriageway was shut between junction 18 for Danbury and junction 17 for Howe Green near Chelmsford at 17:30 GMT.

It led to severe delays for drivers with congestion backed up to junction 19 for Boreham Interchange.

The carriageway has since reopened and Essex Police was approached for comment.
