Plans have been lodged to demolish several derelict buildings in order to build a number of affordable homes in South Derbyshire.

The scheme, proposed for land off Granville Street in Woodville, has been submitted by Owl Partnerships and Foster, Green and Brown Limited.

If approved, the project would include 35 houses, classed as "affordable housing" with 64 parking spaces included in the proposals.

South Derbyshire District Council is expected to make a decision in the coming months.

Documents submitted by the applicant say that plans for four homes were approved on the site in 2004 but never actioned, while plans for a residential care village were also approved in 2010 but never progressed – both schemes have now lapsed.

Of the planned homes, 10 would be one-bed houses, 14 would be two-bed houses, nine would be three-bed houses and two would be four-bed houses, the Local Democracy Reporting Service said.

In documents submitted to the council, the applicants said there were 842 households on the social housing waiting list as of June 2025, with 459 specifying Woodville as their "preferred location".
