Police seize drugs worth £48,000 during raids
Cambridgeshire Constabulary Police officers have raided seven properties in a city centre as part of a joint operation to tackle drugs supply and organised crime.
Cash totalling £10,000 was found in Millfield, Peterborough, along with half a stone (3.5kg) of cannabis worth about £48,000, more than 22,000 suspected illicit cigarettes, and 73kg of suspected illicit tobacco.
The raids focused on three shops and adjoining residential properties on London Road, Lincoln Road, and Chaucer Road in the city.
Police said a man in his 40s was arrested on Lincoln Road on suspicion of possession with intent to supply cannabis.
Cambridgeshire Constabulary Raids were carried out as part of a joint operation between the Eastern Region Special Operations Unit, His Majesty’s Revenue and Customs, immigration services, Cambridgeshire Constabulary and Peterborough City Council.
The raids were a part of the Alliance initiative - part of the Home Office's "Clear, Hold, Build" scheme - which aims to rescue and regenerate areas affected by organised crime and make it safer for residents and businesses.
