Man, 20, jailed for trying to murder his parents
Google MapsA 20-year-old man has been jailed for 18 years for trying to murder his adoptive parents.
Callum Kyle stabbed Marianne and Robert Kyle multiple times with a kitchen knife at their home in Reskadinnick Road, Camborne on 21 June, Truro Crown Court heard.
Judge Simon Carr said it had been a "truly terrifying attack" which had caused "dreadful life-long" physical and psychological effects on the parents.
Kyle admitted two counts of attempted murder, actual bodily harm to his neighbour and possessing a knife - Carr sentenced him to 15 years in prison with a three-year extended sentence because of the "significant risk" he posed to the public.
The court heard Kyle had used LSD and cannabis and had been in a self-induced psychosis from LSD at the time of the attack.
Kyle had told paramedics at the scene he knew what he was doing but the court heard he had no recollection of what he had done in his drug-induced state.
It was reported Kyle had been carrying the knife when he left the house after stabbing his parents and he had punched a neighbour who had asked him if he was alright.
Both parents suffered multiple stab wounds and fractures in the assault.
