Tree of Joy goes up despite strong winds
Rotary Club of GuernseyThe Tree of Joy was erected during heavy rainfall and strong winds, organisers have said.
The Rotary Club Guernsey said a team of 15 members, a large crane and the Marine and General crew helped put the tree and lights ahead of the Christmas light turn on taking place on Thursday 27 November.
Policy and Resources President Lindsay De Sausmarez was lifted on a crane and "overcame a fear of heights" to top off the tree.
Jerry Girard, from the club, said the tree made a difference to the community.
He said: "The Tree of Joy, started 26 years ago, is the focal point of our community service through the Christmas period, which includes gifts and food parcels for those nominated to receive them."
