Proposal to convert 18th Century pub into home
Wiltshire CouncilPlans to convert a former 18th Century pub into a three-bedroom home have been submitted to planners.
The Crown & Anchor pub in Ramsbury, Wiltshire, was acquired by Micheal Barrett in 2018. The pub later closed in 2023 and has been vacant since, according to the Local Democracy Reporting Service.
Mr Barrett said that despite "significant investment", the business became unviable due to rising running costs and competition from other local businesses.
Planners are told the application does not seek permission to change the appearance of the pub.
Two attached holiday lets were built in 2020. They operate separately and do not form part of the proposed development.
The pub was put on the market in 2024 but failed to attract a buyer. Mr Barrett offered the building for community use, however the village is already well-served with amenity buildings.
